Meshkov’ great performance spoils Izvidac’ season opener
Отличная игра БГК подпортила «Извиджачу» старт в сезон
Meshkov
Brest have managed to prove why they were named clear favorites ahead of
face-off against Izvidac giving home fans a chance to celebrate after 40:29
victory against outsider Izvidac.
Young Bosnian team is back in the competition after two years and main goal is to play as much competitive matches as possible and by that gather as much valuable experience. They were quite nervous in their first SEHA encounter of the season and the result was too many technical mistakes especially in last 15 minutes which experienced team like Meshkov knew how to use.
Hosts have managed to break guest team’ resistance in the second part of first 30 and it was not hard for them to keep the gap well open until the final whistle.
Meshkov’ coach Bebeshko used the chance to give some youngsters like Yashchanka, Kulak and Yuryok a chance to show what they are capable of in front of domestic fans and, of course, to give some more important players like Pesic, Vukic and Atman a chance to rest a bit after rough schedule in last 10 days.
Sergey Bebeshko, Meshkov` coach:
I’d like to welcome new SEHA Gazprom League’s member. Some have compared it to Strumica or Spartak but it is not very much so. They are much stronger and are playing modern handball. They were active in defense for all 60 minutes and it is only an additional proof that SEHA is growing stronger. They can fight against any team in this league.
Simon Razgor, Meshkov` player:
Our goal was to win with solid difference and I think we’ve played well. Izvidac was trying hard to stay close for 45 minutes and we were forced to play good without many mistakes. We’ve proved to be much better in the second half however and deserved to win this.
Zdenko Grbavac, Izdvidac` coach:
We are a young team, and this is something new for us here in SEHA Gazprom League. I think we've shown good handball and I'm sure our form will grow in games to come. Good performance all in all.
Marko Ivankovic, Izvidac` player:
Our goal coming here was to play our best and I think it was fine. Our mistakes were crucial allowing Meshkov to enlarge the gap and seal the deal early into the match.
