EHF CL Round 7: Vardar sit on top of group B, draw in Brest
With EHF Champions League’s 7th round right behind us SEHA Gazprom League can be most proud of League’s two-time champions Vardar sitting on top of group B even after a tough away match in Germany in which they have managed to beat Rhein Neckar Löwen with 33:27 on Canellas’ 10 goals along with 7 from Cindric and 4 from Maqueda.
PPD Zagreb were not as successful playing reigning European champions Vive Tauron Kielce at home losing 23:26 in a tight match in which they have managed to outplay favored hosts in the first half but were unable to keep the resistance on a high level in the second. Horvat and Mandalinic scored 6 goals each, Kontrec added 3 just like Miklavcic.
SEHA Gazprom derby of CL’s 7th round was played in Brest with Meshkov hosting Celje PL and sharing points on a 29:29 draw. Guests were one goal up after first 30 but that was not something Belarusian champions would not be able to catch in the second with Stojkovic leading their attack once again with 8 goals. Zvizej on the other side scored 8, Janc added 7 for Slovenians.
In group A Telekom Veszprem have fallen short against PSG with 28:29 losing everything in final moments of the clash. Ilic was their best scorer with 8, Lekai added 6, Sulic 4 but that was not enough to down the team of Paris.
In the next round teams will once again play each other changing host and guest status.
STANDINGS AFTER ROUND 7:
GROUP A: PSG 12, Barcelona 12, Flensburg 9, Telekom Veszprem 8, Kiel 6, Wisla Plock 5, Silkeborg 4, Schaffhausen 0.
GROUP B: Vardar 12, Kielce 10, Szeged 9, Rhein Neckar Löwen 9, Meshkov 7, Celje PL 4, Kristianstad 3, PPD Zagreb 2.
In group C it was hard to expect for the team of Presov to celebrate against favored French side Montpellier. In the end it was 24:28 with Krok scoring 6 goals and Sadovyi adding 5. Metalurg have once again managed to make a surprise celebrating away against Elverum with 26:31. Kuzmanovski scored 9 , Obradovic added 6, Velkovski 5 in a dominant win.
In the next round Skopje will host SEHA derby with Metalurg playing Tatran.

GROUP C: Montepellier 10, La Rioja 9, Chehovskie Medvedi 6, Tatran 6, Metalurg 6, Elverum 5.
GROUP D: Nantes 11, Motor 9, Besiktas 9, Dinamo Bucuresti 6, ABC/UMinho 4, Holstebro 3.
By all this, first match of EHF Cup’s qualifying round 3 is also behind us where SEHA Gazprom League has two of its participants - NEXE and Gorenje.
NEXE have already played first leg in Germany against Magdeburg losing by a big margin 31:22 despite of Zrnic scoring 8 goals. Revanche match is schedule for next Saturday. Gorenje, which is playing Füchse Berlin, will on the other hand play first leg on Wednesday and will then host the team of Berlin on Saturday.
