Vardar returning from Belarus as winners of tournament "Belgazprom Bank" held this weekend in Brest. Macedonian champion secure first place among four teams, Vardar, ZTR (Ukraine), Meshkov (Belarus) and Chehovski Medvedi (Russia).
Macedonian champion had 2 wins, against Chekhov Medved (33-32) and ZTR (26-22) and a 28-28 draw with Meshkov.
In Sunday's game, Vardar beat ZTR, and stays in hall to watch last game, Meshkov - Chehovski medvedi. Home team needs victory to retain trophy, but they lost 27-29.
It was enough for "bears" to be second.
For finishing first Vardar receive a prize of 5,000 euros, Chehovski Medvedi 4.000 euros, and right-back Vladimir Petric was elected as best player of the tournament.
- I gave chance to all players. This was planned before, on every match each players to have more time. I am pleased with the attitude of all players, their approach to the game. With Chekhovski Medvedi we'ree little tired, we arrived in Belarus in two groups, but on next game were much better. Now follows the tournament in Strasbourg, where we will play ones more with strong rivals, says Vardar coach, Zoran Kastratovic.
