PREVIEW EHF CL Round 6/EHF EL: MOTW in Germany as Kiel welcome Veszprem; Eurofarm inches away from first EL points
Sixth EHF Champions League group stage round is ahead of us and due to ongoing situation Motor Zaporozhye and Telekom Veszprem will be the only two SEHA representatives to get out there this time around. We’re bringing you our weekly preview of EHF Champions League challenges ahead of us as well as a recap of Eurofarm Pelister’ first EHF European League group stage encounter in Denmark against GOG so let’s get into it!
(Group B) Celje PL – Motor Zaporozhye
After dominantly defeating PPD Zagreb last week, Slovenian Celje PL will on Wednesday try to reach another win against SEHA representatives in EHF Champions League welcoming Motor Zaporozhye. Despite of the fact they still haven’t managed to win a single point, Motor Zaporozhye have a solid roster and they proved it displaying great performances in losses to highly-favored teams like Barca and Telekom Veszprem and it is clear they will look to put an end to a negative series they’ve found them self in and take points back home from Celje. We’re, without doubt, up to a great one so make sure not to miss it.
(Group B) THW Kiel – Telekom Veszprem
EHF Champions League ‘Match of the Week’ will be played in Germany with Kiel welcoming Telekom Veszprem in a face-off between two teams that will also play on 2020 EHF Final4 in December in Cologne. And while Telekom Veszprem have a perfect 4-0 score so far, THW Kiel are 3-1 as they suffered a tough defeat at home against Nantes more than a month ago. Despite of everything it is clear an amazing, high-quality duel is ahead of us in which Hungarians will look to grab two new points and grab pole-position in group B with five matches behind them. Two teams met in the CL group stage last season as well with Kiel taking a dominant win away from home (31:37) and a narrow one (29:28) in Germany which is just another reason why Veszprem will be highly-motivated ahead of this one.
EHFCL Round 6 schedule for SEHA – Gazprom League teams:
Wednesday (18.45 CET) Celje PL – Motor Zaporozhye
Wednesday (18.45 CET) THW Kiel – Telekom Veszprem
Also, in what was their premier EHF European League group stage match, Eurofarm Pelister were on Tuesday evening in an extremely narrow encounter defeated in Denmark against GOG 29:30. Stipe Mandalinic, who they've managed to bring in during the summer from German Füchse Berlin, delivered an incredible performance scoring 11 goals for his team while Tomislav Kusan added eight. Blagojce Trajkovski grabbed 11 saves but unfortunately that wasn't enough for coach Zeljko Babic and his guys to take points back home to Bitola with them.
