2021 WCh Egypt – Day 19: Denmark crowned new-old champions of the World

2021 WCh in Egypt has come to an end. In an amazingly narrow final and a battle between two great teams we’ve seen Denmark defend the world champion title (26:24) on wings of an extraordinary performance from their goalkeeper Niklas Landin who finished the match with 15 saves, two of which came in final two minutes sealing the deal in this encounter. Mikkel Hansen once again showcased his class leading Denmark offensively with seven goals. Hampus Wanne on the other side scored five for Sweden.

In the third-place match Spain managed to come out on top versus France celebrating with 35:29. Rodrigo Corrales delivered an amazing performance finishing the match with 15 saves being one of the keys to their win. Former Vardar’s ace Alex Dujshebaev led Spaniards on the other side of the court scoring eight goals. Telekom Veszprem’s Kentin Mahe finished the match with two.

New-old world champions are Danes, silver medal goes to Sweden and bronze to Spain. Regarding SEHA teams - Hungary finished 5th, Croatia 15th, Belarus 17th and North Macedonia 23rd. MVP of the tournament is Mikkel Hansen.

With WCh now behind us it’s time for new SEHA Gazprom League challenges and we’re definitely coming in hot with four matches next week. First one is scheduled for tomorrow (Monday) already with Macedonian Vardar welcoming Croatian vice-champions Nexe Nasice so stay tuned!
