Olympic gold goes to France
After thrilling men's handball tournament at Tokyo Olympics, the national team of France once again made history. With a 25:23 win over Denmark, "Les Experts" became the first national handball team to win three gold medals at the Olympics men's handball tournament. Among the golden ones was SEHA player Kentin Mahe, who already has a silver medal from the 2016 Rio Olympics.
In the bronze medal match, Spain managed to outplay Egypt and win their fourth medal in the history of the Olympics, after Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000, and Beijing 2008. Jorge Maqueda, Rodrigo Corrales, and Eduardo Gurbindo will be coming back to SEHA courts with one more medal, Olympic bronze.
Although the national team of Egypt didn't secure an Olympic medal, they played one of their best tournaments ever and their right back Omar Yahia became the first non-European in the Olympic All-Star team since 1992.
Congratulations to all the winners, especially to all SEHA players on their amazing achievements!
