Ever since SEHA – Gazprom League was founded we had the privilege of watching some of the finest handball in the world. But if we didn’t have a pool of great talent there would be no handball to enjoy. Every SEHA team has at least one extraordinary player who can excel at any given moment, yet only one of them all will be given the prestigious MVP award. Throughout ten seasons of SEHA – Gazprom League there have been nine players worthy of being called the SEHA Final 4 most valuable player.
 
First SEHA - Gazprom League MVP is a true legend of the sport and SEHA handball – Zlatko Horvat. Horvat scored 17 goals in two matches against Vardar 1961 and Tatran Presov. Even though ‘Lions’ came in third place, Zlatko Horvat was by far the best player in the tournament and definitely deserved the trophy.
 
The second and third season were reserved for Vardar 1961 and two ‘Red & Black’ handballers. Strahinja Milic won the award in front of the home crowd, saving 50% of all shots (23 saves) against PPD Zagreb and Metalurg, but only to finish second (behind PPD Zagreb) in the league. They were far more superior in season 2013/2014, and thanks to Timur Dibirov, who shot over 90% in the final match of the season, Vardar 1961 got past the likes of PPD Zagreb and Meshkov Brest and lifted the trophy.    
 
Telekom Veszprem brought an injection of excitement the second they entered the league. They also have two consecutive MVPs to vouch for them. Chema Rodriguez and Momir Ilic swept the competition and took home the championship, as well as MVP trophies. No wonder their team won back-to-back championships, considering both of these players brought a major difference on both ends of the floor.
 
Vardar got back in the game after Vezsprem’s players won the MVP award two times. Three MVP awards, along with three SEHA trophies in a row were a sign of great player management in Skopje. In Brest in 2017, none could find a solution for Joan Canellas and his robust physique. One year later, Luka Cindric took the whole league by storm and gave us a performance for the ages – 12 goals and 7 assists in two knockout matches. Last but not least Dainis Kristopans, the giant from Latvia, topped Luka Cindric only one year after. The former Vardar 1961 player also scored 12 goals, however, his assist tally exceeded everything we have ever seen and with 13 passes he just dominated the court.
 
Last season also brought a lot of excitement, but the most unexpected event was when Rodrigo Corrales made a move from Paris Saint-Germain and played two brilliant matches in Zadar. His 29 saves were more than enough to secure both MVP for himself and the brand new SEHA trophy.
 
In less than a month, there will be another MVP in the SEHA – Gazprom League books. The only question is: Who?
