WCh 2023: Hungary proceed to the quarter-finals
The last Main round matches are officially over, and the eight best teams move to the quarter-final. The quarter-final matches will be played on Wednesday, 25 January. Two encounters will be played in the famous TELE2 Arena in Stockholm and Ergo Arena in Gdansk. Among France, Germany, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Egypt and Denmark, one SEHA country found its place in the knockout phase and that is Hungary.
Quarter-final schedule
QF1: France vs Germany (Wednesday, 25 January, 20:30 CET)
QF2: Norway vs Spain (Wednesday, 25 January, 18:00 CET)
QF3: Sweden vs Egypt (Wednesday, 25 January, 20:30 CET)
QF4: Denmark vs Hungary (Wednesday, 25 January, 18:00 CET)
While Hungary advanced to the quarter-finals, other SEHA countries finished their journey in Poland and Sweden. After a win against Bahrain, the Croatian national team finished the tournament in 9th place. During the tournament, Croatia lost a match against Egypt, had one draw against Denmark and won against the USA, Morocco, Belgium, and Bahrain. Serbia took 10th place, and they are returning home with defeats against Germany and Norway, and victories against Algeria, Qatar, Argentina, and the Netherlands. On the other side, North Macedonia still must play their match for 27th place against South Korea at the President’s Cup that is scheduled for Wednesday 25 January at 18:00 CET.
Semi-final encounters are scheduled for Friday, 27 January with one match played in the Ergo Arena in Gdansk, and the other one in Tele 2 Arena in Stockholm. The final match of the 2023 IHF Men’s World Championship will take place on Sunday, 29 January at 20:30 CET in the Swedish Tele 2 Arena.
