F4 NOVI SAD SPECIAL 7M Strahinja Milic (Vardar)
Strahinja Milic is one of the few players that can say that he will for the third time in his career be part of SEHA GSS League's Final Four tournament. As Vardar's player in the first season he won the trophy, and last year he played in the final and was elected as MVP of the tournament.
1M: This is your third time to play on SEHA GSS League's Final Four. What do you expect in Novi Sad?
- We're going to win the F4. I really think we have the best team, but we have to prove it on court, for now we're favorites only on paper. Each team which has managed to qualify for the final tournament is very good and deserves to win it but I think we are slight favorites this time.
2M: CO Zagreb is not the opponent you’ve wished to play against?
- Zagreb is surely not a team I like to play against. We are not satisfied with them as our semi-final opponents. Those are all young guys. They have a lack of experience but in case they'll have a good day and be concentrated it will be very hard for us. They've showed that they are not a tough opponent only for SEHA GSS League's participants but for the whole Europe.
3M: When you have signed for Vardar you thought of staying shortly in Skopje but then you've changed your mind and decided to sign a new contract. What made made you do it?
- Until I came to Skopje I thought I will stay here only for three months, as I agreed with former club's chairman Mihailo Mihailovski. But when I arrived, after 3-4 days I've completely changed my opinion. This country is similar to one I was born in, has similar language and life like the one in Serbia. I simply don't feel like a stranger here and it was the only logical thing to do. Club makes a great progress from year to year and it matches my ambitions. In a few years Vardar will be the best club in Europe.
4M: Would you compare this season's F4 with the one in Zagreb and Skopje?
- Quality is now on a much higher level. Clubs have invested a lot of money, such as Tatran and Meshkov and it became visible. Investments automatically increase league's quality and create new rivals.
5M: Vardar will come to Novi Sad only a few weeks after eliminating current CL champion Hamburg from the competition. Does such a success put extra pressure on your back?
- We’ve played fantastic in Hamburg and now everyone expects us to win SEHA GSS League's F4 easily. We have to enter each game with maximum motivation, and I hope there will be no problems.
6M: You have, in recent months, had a lot of success in your private life but somehow lost status in the first team? Does it affect your performance?
- I got married, became a father, signed a new five year contract. Those things have certainly affected my sports life but I have to overcome these difficulties. I was not aware that anything is happening to me.
7M: You look 'scary' standing between the posts. It gives you greater advantage over an opponent who believes that you are not able to react so quick and it allows you to surprise him with great saves. Is that a part of your tactics?
- Each team we’ll play against on F4 has already met so it helps them a lot. I think my style has its advantages but it would be better if you asked players about it. Each goalkeeper has its advantages. Inaki Malumbres might be small, but he compensates it up with his speed.
