Stevanović lands Spartak on -14
Stevanović spustio Spartak na -14
Zagreb has ahead of national team break managed to clearly beat Spartak Vojput from Subotica in 'Matchbox' sports hall with 36:22 (19:13). Lions have from the beginning showed who is favorite opening the match with great defense, fast transition creating an advantage which was until the end only rising. In the end of the first half Zagreb got a bit distracted allowing Spartak to reduce the gap to 'only' -6 after first 30 minutes.
Zagreb opened the second half great, again with great defense led by Leon Šušnja slowly enlarging the gap. In the end, once again, they have slowed down a bit finishing the match with +14.
Mihić and Stepančić have scored 6 each for Zagreb and Županjac was with 5 best scorer for Spartak. Stevanović added 14 saves.
Branislav Zeljković, Spartak Vojput' coach:
I have to say I am not satisfied with my team's peformance today. I can't say anything about will my players have displayed today but speaking of playing style we were not on our level today. Too many technical mistakes, bad shots caused by zagreb's good defense and goalkeeper Stevanović. We've started playing better later in the second but it was not enough for anything more.
Bojan Županjac, Spartak Vojput' player:
They certainly have more experience than we do, they are playing fast flowing, modern handball, strong in defense which is their biggest characteristics. Their rhytm was too fast for us and we were doing too many technical mistakes. We're turning to smaller break now and preparations for next part of the season.
Veselin Vujović, PPD Zagreb' coach:
It was a big pleasure to play against coach Zeljković. His work is visible and of course there are many technical mistakes but what they manage to do they do very well. We were running a bit more than usual preparing for Flensburg because that's kind of match we expect to play against them. There were some techincal mistakes but it happens.
Lovro Mihić, PPD Zagreb' player:
I believe we've from the beginning started proving to be favorites in this match. We've started playing fast in transition reaching an advantage we did not lose until the end.
