Hungary and Croatia shine in the national team week
SEHA Gazprom League teams have had a little break in their schedule due to international break in which national teams were able to try certain things and prepare better for EHF EURO in Poland waiting for us in little more than two months.
Croatia and Macedonia were along with Montenegro playing on HEP Croatia Cup in Umag with hosts celebrating two victories. First they were with 29:21 better than Macedonia (Horvat 7, K.Lazarov 5) and then they were better than Montenegro with 28:23 again with new captain Zlatko Horvat (in absence of Marko Kopljar) scoring 9 goals.
Macedonia and Montenegro have in their mutual fixture played a draw 30:30 with Manaskov scoring 5 for Macedonians, as much as Kiril Lazarov.
Serbian "Eagles" have had an unsuccessful appearance at DHB Super Cup in Germany. Dejan Perić’ guys lost all three matches against Slovenia 21:23, Germany 26:37 and Brazil 29:32. Germany won the tournament beating Slovenia 31:28, in whose roster Veszprem’ right winger Gašper Marguč was unstoppable with seven goals. That was the first defeat of PPD Zagreb’ coach Veselin Vujović in his fifth match on Slovenian bench.
Bosnia and Herzegovina has made an important step towards first place in qualification Group for the World Championship 2017 Play-Off. Bosnians were better than Slovakia with 29:25 in front of 5.000 fans in Mejdan hall in Tuzla. Nikola Prce was the real leader of the winning team with nine goals, while Tatran Prešov’ goal machine Radoslav Antl netted eight for Slovak NT. Slovakia was after that better than Kosov with 38:20 in the Round 2, while Bosnians missed the chance to beat the buzzer in Kaunas against Lithuania 26:26. Marko Panić missed shot for two points in the last second.
Hungary won Provident Cup played in front of home fans. Team led by Talant Dujshebaev beat Belarus 32:20 (15:6) and Argentina 28:15. The main role in rejuvenated home squad had experienced Roland Mikler between posts with Iman Jamali having a debut in Hungarian national team. Mikler was chosen for the best goalkeeper of the tournament with Meshkov Brest’ player Maxim Baranau being top scorer. Belarus also suffered a defeat against Argentina 30:23 which put Rutenka and his team-mates on the bottom tournament’s table. Belarus was in unofficial part of the tournament better than Hungary with 25:21.
