Decision week - big trio deciding who will meet in semis in Varaždin?
Big decision about placement after the regular part of the season is ahead of us next week. We will find out who will meet in semi-finals in Varaždin. Interesting is that encounters of strongest teams will decide semis pairs with all F4 participants already booking a place among 14 best teams in EHF' Champions League which says quite a lot about how strong the tournament in Varaždin will be.
Two great derbies are ahead of us on Tuesday. Vardar will host Veszprem and PPD Zagreb will at home face Meshkov.
Reality says that Veszprem are closest to number 1 because by the clash against Vardar they still have to play two games on road against Strumica and Prešov so it is hard to expect for reigning champions to miss to grab the pole position ahead of F4. Vardar would with a victory manage to beat Veszprem which no one managed to achieve in these two seasons and they would be allowed to wait and hope for Veszprem' bad day in Prešov to eventually catch No.1. On the other side, loss would for Vardar be quite dangerous because it would open a chance for PPD Zagreb and Meshkov to overtake Vardar' position 2 which would make the clash between Meshkov and Vardar even more interesting.
Reality however says that Meshkov and PPD Zagreb will probably on Wednesday be closer to decision about 3 or 4. In case of their victory PPD Zagreb would secure position 3, a draw would also bring PPD Zagreb closer to third position under condition to take a victory in Novi Sad and on the other side in case Meshkov manage to take a victory they would be a step closer to position three. Each team will have an opportunity to choose its opponent in Varaždin.
So what we have are three big derbies Vardar-Veszprem and PPD Zagreb-Meshkov on Tuesday along with Meshkov-Vardar on Saturday which will decide positions after the regular part of the season and serve as a great intro for F4 in Varaždin from 1st to 3rd of April.
Other positions are already clear and decided: 5. Tatran, 6. NEXE, 7. Vojvodina, 8. Borac m:tel, 9. Spartak Vojput, 10. Maks Strumica.
