Can PPD Zagreb surprise wounded Meshkov?
Сподобится ли «Загреб» на сюрприз в Бресте?
Meshkov and PPD Zagreb will meet for the second time in ten days, this time as a part of SEHA Gazprom League on Wednesday (19.00 CET) in Brest.
In their first encounter of the season Belarusian champions have managed to reach a 27:22 away win and after that match PPD Zagreb have decided to part ways with coach Veselin Vujovic. ‘Shock’ is so far brining results with Zagreb celebrating in the last round of EHF Champions League against Vardar and traveling to Belarus confidently but without Vori, Markovic and Stefan Vujic in their roster.
Hosts see this match and the one against Gorenje in three days also at home as a chance to quickly gather 6 points and make another step towards F4 as well as to get back on winning track after recent losses against NEXE and Szeged. However, it is sure that PPD Zagreb will do anything to get back and take three big points.
Sergey Bebeshko, Meshkov coach:
Upcoming
game is very important for us because in case of a win our chances to catch F4
will slightly improve. Zagreb have a new coach and motivational boost after
triumph over Vardar. They did not change their playing style and are surely
coming here to take revenge after we’ve managed to beat them in Croatia.
Ivan Pesic, Meshkov player:
After
three away games we are happy to play in Brest. We must win after a surprising
loss in Nasice. Zagreb however have good atmosphere after coach change and victory
against Vardar. It'll be hard to win. But we'll try.
Silvio Ivandija, PPD Zagreb coach:
I was
named PPD Zagreb’s coach right after the loss against Meshkov in Champions
League. We can learn a lot from that game. We’ll miss some of our players for
this match but I’m sure we’ll play our best. They have excellent back line,
goalkeeper and line player. We’ll need diversity in attack in order to be
successful in this match.
Ivan Stevanovic, PPD Zagreb player:
This is a
traditionally long and hard journey. It will surely be another interesting game
especially after their recent triumph here in Zagreb in Champions League. NEXE
have showed us how we can play against them and beat them. In case we manage to
play like we did in the second half against Vardar we’ll have a good chance to
catch points.
