Thriller in Brest, Meshkov and PPD Zagreb share points
Триллер в Бресте: БГК и «Загреб» делят очки
Both teams, Meshkov Brest and PPD Zagreb, may regret that they have not managed to grab full bags from their mutual encounter after 28:28 draw and a crucial miss on a game-winning shot just 10 seconds before the buzzer.
In the last minute Meshkov had two potential game-winning shots missing them both. PPD Zagreb coach Ivandija called a TO with 22 seconds left to play. Unfortunately for guest team's fans Kristopans was focused enough grabbing a steal on a kempa pass and putting his young teammate Yurynok in a position to decide the match in the counter-attack which he did not use shooting over the bar.
PPD Zagreb will this way keep second place in SEHA Gazprom League with 16 points from seven games and Meshkov will remain fourth with 14 from eight matches.
Sergej Bebeshko, Meshkov coach:
We've played well in defense in the first half. Goalkeeper Pesic played well too but there were many suspensions and rival was given a chance to score easy goals. Therefore we did not manage to reach necessary difference before halftime. We've opened the second half well but unfortunately Zagreb managed to equalize. From one side we can be satisfied with the final score. From the other we are not happy because Yurynok could have provided us with the victory in final attack.
Andrey Yurynok, Meshkov player:
The game was not easy. I was trying to play as good as could replacing key players from my position. I am very disappointed not to score in the last attack.
Silvio Ivandija, PPD Zagreb coach:
I think this game was different compared to the one in EHF Champions League. We were rising during the game improving our form. In the first half we've had problems mainly in defense but in the second and after being 5 down we've managed to catch good rhytm. Our guys showed courage no matter what we have agreed on last time out.
Matevz Skok, PPD Zagreb player:
Fair and brave match from Meshkov. Our coach has alreday said everything. It's good that we've in the end managed to keep the draw.
