In a derby of the bottom Metalurg have in Presov managed to beat Tatran (27:33) catching them on League’s table with 10 points. In an exciting match which was decided late (24:25 in 52nd minute) with hosts closing the gap, Serbian national team players were focused and ready to seal the deal. Darko Arsic had 15 saves, Nemanja Obradovic scored 9 with both Vanja Ilic and Aleksandar Gugleta adding 6 each. Jakub Hrstka was Tatran’s best scorer with 6. First part of the season is now over for both Tatran and Metalurg.
Rastislav Trtik, Tatran coach:
Congratulations to Lino and his Metalurg on the
victory because they played really well. The most important factor of the game
was Obradovic whose performance today was above average. He was able to replace
their injured scorer Taleski deciding this encounter today. We were prepared
for the game well, but we were not able to stick with the tactics missing
strength and they were on the other side able to focus and play good in key
moments. Obradovic and Arsic were difference makers today. We’ve completely missed
the second line of backs tonight. We’ve had a lot of youngsters playing today
and experiencing SEHA League atmosphere. Well-deserved win for Metalurg tonight
I have to admit
Martin Kriz, Tatran player:
We were able to keep up with our tactics as long as
we’ve had strength. In the end we were not ready to cope with them with a rough
series of matches in different competitions behind us.
Lino Cervar, Metalurg coach:
We’ve played a very good game despite of the fact that
we’ve had a lot of injured players. Young players were well prepared and
focused showing what they can. Our
defense was aggressive enough but we’ve made several unforced errors. In attack
our solutions for their defensive performance were good.
Stefan Drogriski, Metalurg player:
We’ve travelled a lot this month and by that have a
lot of injured players. However, today we’ve showed great fighting defense and
focus in attack. This was one for all and all for one performance.
Well-deserved win.
