Meshkov eager to reach F4 against Zagreb
Meškov protiv Zagreba lovi F4
PPD Zagreb and Meshkov will on Thursday (18.00 CET, Arena Varazdin) close the regular part of sixth SEHA Gazprom League season. Match is highly important for guests from Belarus as they need at least a point to reach F4. In case Zagreb manage to win this Celje PL will be among best four instead of Belarusian champions. On the other hand 'Lions' need at least a point to confirm regular season No.3. Team from Brest is aware how important the match is as well as PPD Zagreb who have decided to rest 14 first-team players in Presov two days ago. Another SEHA classic as a perfect way to close another successful season.
Vladimir Jelcic, PPD Zagreb assistant coach:
This
will be our fourth encounter against them this season - we so far have two
draws and a loss. They are a quality team with great players on each position
and I think they might even surprise Flensburg in CL. We've played with mixed
roster in Presov on Tuesday resting key players here in Zagreb for this match
in which we'd like to beat Meshkov for the first time in a row.
Tin Kontrec, PPD Zagreb
player:
Speaking
of results this match does not mean much for us but we'd like to win it,
primarily to gain a self-confidence booster ahead of clash against Telekom
Veszprem in CL. We surely have to deliver a good performance and honor fans in
Varazdin who have been here for us each time we needed them this season. I
believe win would do it perfectly.
Sergej
Bebeshko, Meshkov coach:
Important match. We need at least a point from Zagreb
and I believe players are aware of that. Zagreb are progressing, Pavlovic and
Horvat are back, Miklavcic is playing his best season. I the beginning of the season
they were struggling in CL but that was long time ago and since then they've
managed to celebrate against both Vardar and Rhein Löwen. I'm sure match will
be tough, we're under a lot of pressure but the good thing is that we've in few
occasions already proved we function well in such conditions.
Rade Mijatovic, Meshkov
goalkeeper:
We know Zagreb well, this will be our fourth face-off
against them this season. We're all ready for this match and goal is to reach
F4. I believe we'll all play a good match under pressure and hopefully it will
be enough.
