Boris Rojevic: ''Our younger players responded well''
Zeleznicar Nis - Vojvodina 20:27 (10:13)
(Sretenovic 5, Spasic 5 / Nikolic 5, Grozdanic 5, Celica 4)
Veselin Vujovic, Zeleznicar coach:
Well-deserved win for Vojvodina here today because in case they managed to remain fully focused until the final whistle, goal difference could have been even bigger. We played our worst today in my opinion and they on the other hand had everything working the way they wanted – their defense, goalkeepers... It’s a pity Celica got injured because Vojvodina will surely miss him. I really hope we’ll raise our game to a higher level in matches to come because the last thing we want is for everyone to come here and already know they’ll grab three points. Of course, I also wish Vojvodina all the best. I’d like to see them play well and raise the overall rating of Serbian handball in Europe in general.
Djordje Spasic, Zeleznicar player:
We started the match poorly and were never able to pick the tempo up and start playing better. Just way too many technical errors, turnovers, misses. We have to learn from mistakes we were making today and progress.
Boris Rojevic, Vojvodina coach:
I feel like we wanted this win more than they did from the very first minute. What makes me happy is that younger players like Milic and Nikolic responded really good today which is our main goal – to develop players. Trophies are just a bonus. We’ll also do everything each time we step out there to be a solid opponent for anyone. We already showed we mean business in Doboj but we’ll have to sign some players as Ostojic left and Milasevic has a serious injury. Today we only had two backs older than 20 at our disposal.
Jovica Nikolic, Vojvodina player:
We played exactly the way we agreed to prior to the match which is great. Of course, there is not much time to celebrate because we have to keep on training and preparing for what’s coming.
