Steaua ready to fight for sixth position against reinforced Zeleznicar
Six wins and eleven defeats. That is the score so far for the first ever Romanian team to participate in SEHA - Gazprom League in what is their rookie season in the competition and they will have a chance to confirm position No.6 with a positive result from the match against Serbian champs Zeleznicar 1949.
Match will be played in Bucharest (13.00 local time) and hosts will most certainly look to give everything in order to finish the season successfully despite of tough schedule they are facing in the national championship which will cause certain roster changes. Zeleznicar will on the other side arrive in the Romanian capital with four of their newest reinforcements – goalkeepers Kocic and Matovic, right back Gorela and line player Babic, which will definitely boost their performance and expectations from this one.
Stefan Laufceac, Steaua Bucuresti coach:
This will be our final SEHA match of the season and we’d like to finish the competition strong while at the same time, hopefully avoiding injuries. It will be a tough match because we still don’t know which roster of players will we have on disposal for this one while we know guests will be fully motivated. As I said, we hope to come out victorious but at this point our main focus in on our national championship.
Krsto Milosevic, Steaua Bucuresti player:
Tough game is waiting for us tomorrow because we don’t have all the players available for it. Tough Romanian Championship game against Timisoara is behind us and our main goal in this one will be to deliver a solid outing and try to win it.
Veselin Vujovic, Zeleznicar 1949 coach:
I feel like we have progressed as a team but youngsters still have lots of ups and downs and that’s something we have to work on since they are making mistakes in moments they shouldn’t. Steaua have a good team but they are all the time playing SEHA League with a mixed roster while focusing on their national championship. We’ll try to win this one although it won’t be easy. Every good outing serves us as a great both motivational and psychological boost. We will be stronger with all the newest reinforcements in the roster, they will definitely bring a certain level of additional quality.
Darko Stosic, Zeleznicar 1949 goalkeeper:
Goal is, as always – to win the match. We managed to defeat them in Nis and they recently lost against Metalurg. Judging by all this we should be able to celebrate but we must remain focused and work hard in order to achieve that. Fortunately, we will finally be able to count on our most recent reinforcements which is an additional reason why we expect a positive result.
