“To be or not to be“ for Meshkov in Skopje
Next three matches in SEHA - Gazprom League will pretty much be ‘to be or not to be’ for Meshkov Brest because in case they want to be sure they’ll get another shot at going all the way on SEHA final tournament – they need three victories. First step out of three will be the match against Vardar in Skopje scheduled for Tuesday (17.15 CET). Vardar have on the other side already booked their final tournament ticket and they only have to wait and see who they will meet in F4 semis.
This will be the last home game of the season for the ‘Red&Black’. In their premier encounter of the season Macedonians were dominantly defeated in Brest (35:20) as they decided to travel to Belarus with an all-youngsters squad resting all of their first-team players. Health situation coach Parrondo is dealing with at the moment is far from ideal as he will miss Christian Dissinger, Vuko Borozan and Sergei Gorbok for this one against Meshkov.
Roberto Parondo, Vardar coach:
We did not have much time to prepare for this match but our goal will be the same as always – to deliver a good outing and come out victorious. EHF Champions League group stage is now behind us and we can start preparing for what’s waiting for us in the knock-out stage. We’ll also participate on SEHA final tournament and by that we have three more regular season-matches to play. We must make a plan which will allow us to be able to prepare for all of these matches accordingly while keeping the adequate level of form at the same time.
Dimitrij Kiselev, Vardar player:
We know Meshkov have a lot of qualities and it’s always difficult to play against them. They have a good team and excellent individuals. Therefore, I believe we’re up to a great one on Tuesday and an important one as well for both teams.
Manolo Cadenas, Meshkov Brest coach:
After the crucial match against Kristianstad we’re off to Skopje where we’ll play one just as important game. We are still in race for the final tournament but we need points from all three remaining regular-season matches. We know how much this game means for us and we’ll play to win.
Viachaslau Shumak, Meshkov Brest player:
We have quite a few critical and challenging matches ahead of us in March. We’ve on Saturday managed to secure the Last 16 phase in the Champions League and now it’s time to focus on reaching SEHA final tournament. We’re familiar with the team of Vardar, we’ve already played them three times throughout the season. They’ve already secure F4 appearance but will despite of that be a tough opponent to face away from home. We’re ready for a tough one. We need points.
