The final weekend ahead of the SEHA – Gazprom League Final 4 brought as the second leg matches in 1/8 finals of the EHF Champions League, as well as deciding encounters in EHF Cup.

EHF Cup Group B: Hannover-Burgdorf – Nexe 32:22 (14:9)

After three wins to open the EHF Cup group stage, Nexe suffered their third consecutive loss, which means the Croatian champions have been eliminated in the group stage. Against the favoured Hannover from the strong German Bundesliga, Nexe could not repeat the level of performance from the first match, and suffered a 10-goal loss. Kastening and Ugalde were brilliant for Hannover with 18 goals combined. For Nexe, who now focus on the Final 4 and domestic competitions, Barisic Jaman had 5 goals, Jaganjac scored 3 and six more players added 2 goals each.

EHFCL Last 16: Vardar – PPD Zagreb 32:30 (19:13)

After Vardar won the first match in Arena Zagreb 27:18, so Vardar had a sizeable advantage before the second match in Skopje. The repeat of the last year’s SEHA Final 4 final match, brought again joy to Vardar fans against rivals PPD Zagreb. It was a battle of legendary Croatian right wingers, as Ivan Cupic scored 9 goals for Vardar and Zlatko Horvat had 11 goals for PPD Zagreb. Macedonian champions now remain the only SEHA – Gazprom League in European competitions and will face Hungarian champions MOL-Pick Szeged in the ¼ finals of the Velux EHF Champions League.

EHFCL Last 16: Flensburg-Handewitt – Meshkov Brest 30:20 (14:8)

After a loss in Brest, Belarusian champions still had every right to believe in a turnaround, after an impressive run to close out the first match. However, Flensburg played extremely well in the second leg and secured the ¼ finals. In the end, it finished 30:20, with Wanne leading the way for the hosts scoring 7 goals. For Meshkov Brest, it was Darko Djukic who was in form with 6 goals and Kulak scored 3 goals in Meshkov’s last Champions League outing of the season.
