HC Spartak become the first SEHA club from Russia
Russian club from Moscow HC Spartak will participate in the 2019/20 season of the SEHA – Gazprom League. HC Spartak will become the first ever Russian club who will play in the SEHA – Gazprom League. The news was officially announced at the press conference held in Moscow on 13th of August, 2019, attended by SEHA Managing Director Sinisa Ostoic, SEHA Vice-President Boris Sapozhnikov, as well as Lev Voronin director of Russian handball federation and Vasily Slavin director of HC Spartak.
For SEHA – Gazprom League, this is a big step towards development beyond the region, as the competition will now have teams from China and Russia.
The new playing system will feature 12 teams, and HC Spartak will compete in Group A, alongside Nexe, Vardar, Tatran Presov, Vojvodina and Motor Zaporozhye. Group B is formed by PPD Zagreb, Metaloplastika Sabac, Meshkov Brest, Telekom Veszprem, Eurofarm Rabotnik and Beijing Sport University.
