Transfer Tuesday: Jorge Maqueda joins Telekom Veszprem until 2022!
Two-time SEHA champions Telekom Veszprem officially announced the signing of Jorge Maqueda. By signing a two-year deal with the Hungarian giants, Maqueda will be re-united with another Spaniard – David Davis, who served as an assistant coach during his time in Vardar. Spanish international joins Hungarians from Pick Szeged.
This two-way specialist has been active on the handball courts for a long time. Maqueda started his career in Barcelona from where he moved to Alcobendas and then Aragon. His first overseas engagement was in 2012 when he signed for French Nantes. He stayed in France for three years, then spent another three years at Vardar, and from 2018 he was a member of MOL-Pick Szeged.
Every SEHA fan knows very well what kind of a player we are talking about. In addition to lifting the SEHA and EHF Champions League trophy in 2017, as well as another SEHA title in 2018, this January he took 'La Furia Roja' to the European gold as the best right back of the tournament. In Vardar, he recorded 60 SEHA appearances and will have a chance to build on his tally that currently stands at 160 goals and 77 assists.
The 32-year-old right back will share his minutes with Yahia Omar and Kent Robin Tonnesen as Telekom Veszprem revealed their roster for the 2020/21 season.
All in all, we are delighted that Jorge is back on our SEHA courts and can't wait to see his contribution to Hungarian champions' achievements!
