EUROFARM PELISTER - A step forward in all fields
AUTHOR'S STORY ''Everyone involved in the club, believes that the time has come to go one step further.''
Macedonian vice-champion will play in the regional competition SEHA - Gazprom League for the third time. In the previous two seasons, Zeljko Babic’s team was stopped, but “Chkembari”, as well as everyone involved in the club, believes that the time has come to go one step further.
One of the brightest moments in the club’s history is the triumph in the SEHA League over the Hungarian giant Telekom Veszprem in the season 2019/20 with 26:24, when stars like Nilsson, Lauge, Borozan, Moraes, Cupara fell in Bitola.
This season started great because, after 15 years, the team from Bitola managed to bring the trophy home. The “Pharmacists” defeated their great rival Vardar 1961 in the Super Cup with a convincing nine-goal difference (31:22).
It was obviously a good sign because Pelister participate in the group phase of the EHF European League this season, in a strong group with Sporting CP, Nimes, Kadetten Schaffhausen, Tatabanya, and AEK Athens. Although Nimes managed to defeat Pelister in Bitola at the beginning, Babic's team rose like a phoenix and came back to win a point against Kadetten on the road. This was followed by a series of victories over AEK Athens and Tatabanya, as well as a point against Sporting in Lisbon.
The good series was crowned with a triumph over the Portuguese team in Bitola. As a result, Eurofarm Pelister have a good chance to make it to the Last 16, as the first or second-placed team (in the group) in the second-ranked European competition.
In the domestic championship, Vardar 1961 will most likely have a point advantage before the start of the fight for the title, Pelister must not be written off ahead of time. Because then Peric, Mandalinic, Velkovski, Kosteski, Maras, and others will be the most dangerous.
