First leg matches of EHF European League quarter-finals are now behind us and what an interesting day it was but also quite successful for the only remaining SEHA – Gazprom League representative in the competition – Nexe Nasice. It’s time for the recap!

In the first leg match played in Nasice, Nexe managed to open the gap and secure a very good advantage ahead of the second leg match which will be played in Denmark in a week. Halil Jaganjac once again delivered a splendid attacking performance scoring nine goals while Predrag Vejin and Fahrudin Melic netted six each. Mihailo Radovanovic added 12 saves. Croatian runners-up have, with this triumph, managed to come an additional step closer to reaching EHF EL final tournament, which would surely be icing on the cake of what appears to be a great season for the team from Slavonia.

In other matches we’ve seen Magdeburg reach an away win in France against Nantes (25:28) while Wisla Plock did the same in Switzerland against Kadetten Schaffhausen (31:33). Benfica on the other side managed to use the home-court advantage in the first leg against Gorenje Velenje securing a big 36:29 win and coming inches away from the final tournament.

Second leg encounters will be played next Tuesday.
