Slana bara playing hall is one of the traditional SEHA home courts where Vojvodina celebrated some of the biggest wins in the club’s history and this is the place where a lot of legendary players played their matches. The team from Novi Sad started their SEHA journey in the season 2013/14 and some of the players especially marked Vojvodina’s journey in the League. In this Author’s story, we are presenting you the Vojvodina’s All-star team during their nine seasons in the League.

On the left wing position, we have Milos Grozdanic who spent four seasons in Vojvodina before his departure in the strongest handball league in the world – Bundesliga. After one season in German Coburg, he returned to the team from Slana bara. The season 2018/19 was very special for Grozdanic. That same year, Milos scored a triple-digit number of goals in the League and thus entered the famous “100 Club” as the best scorer of the season. During his five SEHA seasons, so far, he scored 200 goals.

Keeping with the left side of the court, we have Dusko Celica who only spent one season in the Vojvodina but made a remarkable trace. During the season 2018/19, Celica had 13 appearances and scored 37 goals. This was his second SEHA season since he spent one season in the PPD Zagreb (2013/14). Since 2011 he has been a part of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.

The Vojvodina’s playmaker and centre back in this All-star team is definitely Nemanja Pribak. He arrived in Vojvodina in 2019 after he spent years playing abroad in clubs like Trimo Trebnje, Nantes, Vardar and Besiktas. Pribak had a crucial role in organizing Vojvodina’s attack. Before his transfer to the Turkish Besiktas, he played 16 SEHA matches, scored 30 goals and had 29 assists.

Jovica Nikolic is one of the best representatives of the new handball generation in Serbian handball. He joined Vojvodina’s first team with only 16 years. This right back was playing equally well in defence and attack. In his 39 SEHA appearances, he scored 127 goals. Nikolic is also the youngest player in the history of the SEHA - Gazprom League to reach 100 goals, just after his 18th birthday. Besides all that, Jovica was the Top young player in the season 2020/21.

On the other side is the true legend of the club from Novi Sad Strahinja Stankovic. He is the player with the most trophies in the club’s history. Stankovic spent nine years in Vojvodina and his SEHA journey started in the season 2013/14 and ended in the season 2020/21. In more than 80 appearances he scored over 220 goals. During his time in the Vojvodina, he won eight national championship titles, and he was a crucial part of the team when they won sixth place in the League in the season 2018/19.

The 26 years old line player from Novi Sad, Nemanja Ratkovic has spent five seasons in the SEHA – Gazprom League. In his 48 appearances in the League, he netted 61 times. With Vojvodina, Ratković won four Serbian championship titles, along with two national cups. Besides the great game in the attack, Ratkovic played a crucial role in the defence.

Svetislav Verkic is the true legend of the club from Novi Sad. An interesting career path led him from Jugovic Kac to Portugal, Norway and Slovakia through Germany all the way back to Serbia and Vojvodina where he was collecting trophies. In his 36 SEHA appearances, he collected more than 175 saves and left a permanent mark in the club.

Coach Boris Rojevic surely plays an important role in the club, since he has been a part of the team through many levels – as a player, junior team coach and senior team head coach. He knows what it takes to succeed. The Serbian team is on the rise lately meaning they are doing an incredible job which they also proved in this season’s matches.
