Kisum goes for nine as Eurofarm Pelister defeats Vojvodina
In the match of the fourth round of SEHA - Gazprom League’s regular season (group A), Vojvodina was on Thursday evening defeated in Bitola versus Eurofarm Pelister.
Hosts have managed to open the match better quickly widening the gap to four goals (5:1). However, Vojvodina has quickly managed to get back into this one keeping it close all the way until the half-time whistle. After the first 30 minutes, the result was 14:12 for Eurofarm Pelister with Kasper Kisum and Simo Sijan leading the way offensively for their respective teams.
In the second half, hosts from North Macedonia were able to keep the tempo high, and the gap opened crusing towards a revenge win over the team from Novi Sad which will surely also help rinse the bitter taste from their home loss against Motor in the final group stage round of the EHF European League which left them shorthanded in terms of reaching the knockout stage of the competition. Kasper Kisum delivered a splendid performance scoring nine goals, while Wilson Davayes added seven. Marko Kizic finished the match with 12 saves. When it comes to Vojvodina, Nikola Kovacevic netted eight, Simo Sijan five.
Despite the loss, Vojvodina remains on top of the standings in group A with six points from three encounters, while second-placed Nexe, and third-positioned Eurofarm Pelister have three each.
In their next SEHA - Gazprom League appearances, Vojvodina will in a week travel to Nasice to meet Nexe, and then Eurofarm Pelister will welcome the Croatian runners-up only five days later.
Lars Walther, Eurofarm Pelister coach:
Playing four matches in eights days - it is definitely not easy. However, we’ve managed to deliver a good performance and celebrate after the European disaster a few days ago. We’ve brought in some new players in the middle of the season and it is visible we’re still out of rhythm. Our main goal at the moment is to figure out a way to get back to the old winning tracks.
Kasper Kisum, Eurofarm Pelister player:
We are tired, but our experience proved to be the key today. Vojvodina has delivered a good performance, even with this young team. In only two days we have another match and we must now focus on that challenge.
Dragan Kukic, Vojvodina assistant coach:
We’ve played with a super-young team today, guys born in 2005/2006/2007. What’s good is that we’ve managed to compete against this Eurofarm team well. I’m proud of these young players, and I believe some of them will find their place in the roster against Nexe as well.
Aleksandar Kurtes, Vojvodina player:
After two days with all these young players, I have to say I feel younger myself. Competing like this against Eurofarm - I must be proud of my teammates. We’ll keep on working and improving.
