Meshkov warming up for EHF's CL against Borac
Meškov se s Borcem zagijava za Ligu prvaka
Meshkov will in a match against Borac open their this year's SEHA GSS League season. Team coached by Željko Babić is entering the season reinforced and will surely use the match against the team from Banja Luka as a warm-up for upcoming CL qualifications. Speaking of Borac, this will be a very hard match for them because of many roster changes they were forced to make.
Before the season Meshkov has organized a 'day with fans' in front of their hall on which their president Aleksandar Meshkov has announced this season's goals:
- We want to reach EHF CL's group stage, SEHA GSS League's F4 and two domestic titles. I believe we have a better team than last years and that we can achieve it.
President has also stated that Gazprom has extended their contract with SEHA League for three more years and that Split, a town from which is Meshkov's trainer Mario Tomljanović and where there coach Željko Babić feels like home, might also be a SEHA GSS Final Four candidate.
We have our minds on CL at the moment but we surely want to enter SEHA GSS League with a positive result. It means much - said Croatian coach on Meshkov's bench Željko Babić.
Borac' coach Igor Rađenović is aware of the situation:
- Our player Duško Hercegovac got injured in a match against Iran in Doboj. Goran Trkulja left to Spain which means we've lost our two most important defense players. In matches ahead of us we'll have to figure out a way to replace them. Meshkov is an absolute favorite, but in case we show our fighting spirit like we did in Doboj I'll be satisfied.
Borac' captain Branislav Obradović added:
- SEHA GSS League is this year stronger than any year before. We would like to show progress in such a League. Meshkov has a CL competitive team and we on the other side have nothing to lose. For the beginning we'd like to be better than we were in Doboj not so long ago.
