Last year's champions Vardar starting the new season in Novi Sad
Vardar u pohod na obranu titule kreće u Novom Sadu
Serbian champions HC Vojvodina will meet SEHA GSS League's current title holders Vardar on Sunday, 18.00 in 'Slana Bara' hall. Interesting is that Macedonian vice-champions will begin their title-defending season in Novi Sad where they have in April won the spectacular F4 tournament. Home team coach Đorđe Ćirković is aware of quality their rivals have but he is also sure they will not raise the white flag before the final whistle:
- Vardar is a powerful team which like Veszprem has national team players from six countries. The whole team has a huge experience. There are two or three TOP players on each position starting from goalkeepers Šterbik, Milić, Angelov, wingers Dibirov, Marković and others like Lacković, Gorbok, Karačić, Pribak, Lazarov as well as the best young European player Dujshebaev. I would be really satisfied with my players repeating the first-half performance from the match against Veszprem.
Vojvodina's playmaker Bojan Todorović also has nothing but great words for their next opponent:
- It is clear that we will play another TOP team after Veszprem in the first round. I want to say that we will do our best to make the match exciting for our fans. Our main goal is to progress, we have a young team and need time. Good matches will without doubt come.
Vardar's captain Filip Lazarov is taking the beginning of the season seriously:
- Unexpected results are possible at the start of the season and that's why we have to be careful in Novi Sad. Each team begins the season with high ambitions and new players. We have to take this seriously if we want to win. We've had tough preparation period, played on two tournaments and lost two finals. I think that we are at the moment a bit tired. We are a TOP team with a lot of TOP players and we have to show why we are title holders - concluded Lazarov.
