As expected in Brest – Meshkov's fourth victory
Meshkov have, as they were planning, managed to beat Serbian champions Vojvodina in SEHA GSS League's round 5 dominantly with 34:22. It was not easy for them to break Vojvodina's resistance and they have succeeded doing it more than 35 minutes into the match. Meshkov's outstanding start of the second half with 9:0 series was great leaving guests without a chance to keep up with the result which has decided the match and brought them 3 new points. Today's hosts now have 12 points which brings them to fourth place. Serbian champions are on the other side ninth with 2 points but also with five home matches ahead of them. Meshkov will on the other side start their 'on road' tour with also five matches away from Brest.
Đorđe Ćirković, Vojvodina's coach:
- I'd like to congratualte our today's hosts on a win. This was our fifth away match, we were playing without some of our most important players and it was simply too much for us against such a good team like Meshkov. I am not completely disappointed I have to say, we were competitive in the first half but in the second we've simply lacked strenght to bring match to a thriller ending. We were on the other side given a chance to try some new things like playing with two pivots which we'll surely use in matches ahead of us.
Branko Kankaraš, Vojvodina's player:
- We've showed a good, quality performance especially in the first half although we were playing without many of our key players. I believe we did not deserve to lose with such a big goal difference and I'm sure this team will in upcoming matches show potential and quality.
Željko Babić, Meshkov's coach:
- We were not good in the first half and obviously I was not satisfied. I've told my players during the break that we need to start playing better in defence and that we'll manage to control the match until the end and the result is visible. We were simply stronger.
Dmitry Kamyshik, Meshkov's player:
- Some things were not good in the first half, some things were but in the second we've showed high quality handball. We've simply played like we can and must and the result is, as coach Babić said, visible.
