Hungarian rhapsody continues
Hungarian MKB MVM Veszprem continue their winning series in SEHA GAZPROM South Stream League. Veszprem have managed to show their TOP class once again in regional competition against Meshkov Brest 31:26 (16:11). Heroes of tonight's win were Roland Mikler with 18 saves and two lefthanders, Gasper Marguč and Christian Zeitz, both with 6 goals. Meshkov’s best scorers were Manojlović, Babichev and Razgor with 5 goals each.
Hungarians have controlled the match from its very beginning. Hosts have opened the match with +7 after 16 minutes with Belarus team having a late ‘wake up’ reaching only -5 after first 30 minutes. Shortly after the beginning of the second half, guests have reached -4 at 19:15 but coach Ortega has then showed he has many options on each position, rotating, and giving their fans reason for another celebration.
Antonio Carlos Ortega, MKB MVM Veszprem’s coach:
This was a really nice game! We’ve experienced some problems preparing for it to be honest due to absence of may of our key players because of their national team duties. However, we’ve managed to win and that is important. We’ve had weaker periods but I expected it. They were really innovative, I have to admit they have surprised us with some of their, especially attacking solutions like playing 7 on 6 without goalkeeper and I’m sure that a really tough match is waiting for us in Brest.
Lékai Máté, MKB MVM Veszprem’s player:
It was nice to be on the bench today I have to say, watching such a nice handball match. I hope that I will soon fully recover from my injury an that coach will be able to count on me.
Željko Babić, Meshkov’s coach:
Congratulations to Veszprém and their coach, thanks for the lesson they gave us! We’ve played a very interesting match against a very strong team. They are well organized and run a lot. All of their attacks have had a start and a finish. We have a lot of injuries and it is really hard to play matches like this without rotation.
Rastko Stojković, Meshkov’s player:
- It was a good game, it was hard to play against them without our injured players. We were simply not strong enough today to play against them.
