Last control for Vardar and Meshkov before important upcoming games
Seven months after their last game in SEHA GSS League, Meshkov and Vardar will face again. In April, in SEHA GSS League’s F4 in Novi Sad Vardar were better which means that Belarus champions see this match as a chance for revenge. This is for both teams the last test before upcoming tough matches in Champions League and coaches will surely use this match to get information about their players’ current form. Current League’s champions will travel to Brest without injured Dujshebaev and Meshkov will play without some of their important players once again, after they have already skipped the match against Veszprem in Hungary.
Želјko Bаbić, Meshkov’s coach:
Tactically, we have to play versus Vardar,
as good as we did in our last match, against Veszprem - strong defence transforming
into fast counter attacks, chances for easy goals. It will be hard without some
of our most important players but in case our goalkeepers manage to perform on
their highest level we surely have a chance.
Ivan Pešić, Meshkov’s
goalkeeper:
Our
playing schedule is very tough. Three days after the
derby in Hungary, we have to play against another serious team. Our next rival has many good individuals but of
course, even without some of our important players we’ll fight. We have no
right to play bad in front of our fans.
Raul Gonzalez, Vardar’s coach:
Meshkov is very quality team. They play excellent in their home matches, and this season they have stronger team compared to last year. They play strong in defense and have excellent shooters. This was confirmed on their last match against MKB MVM Veszprem. I think this is very good for us, for the team to have strong match before facing Veszprem in the CL. I expect a victory which would bring us one step closer towards F4.
Filip Lazarov, Vardar’s player:
I expect a strong match. This season they are playing better handball in both Cl and SEHA GSS League. Anyway, anytime we step on the court we look for a victory and that's exactly what we'll do this time too. We have to win to get closer to Final Four.
