Zagreb confident against NEXE with captain Horvat back in roster
Zagreb siguran protiv NEXEa, vratio se Horvat
PPD Zagreb have, harder than expected managed to reach a victory in a clash against NEXE in SEHA GSS League's round 10. After first round and +16 it seemed like it will be much easier than it was today. Team from Našice was playing much better than in Osijek few months ago keepng up and even leading through the bigger part of the first half. However, home team's experience has proved to be decisive bringing Croatian champions 3 new important points.
This was a match in which Zagreb was looking to prepare for a match against Meshkov. Best thing before that derby is captain Horvat's return today, with 8 goals. Stepančić was unstoppable in the first half with 7 goals. Can Celebi was on the other side NEXE's best scorer.
Veselin Vujović, PPD Zagreb's coach:
This was a true derby. Our goal was to give rest to our important players before CL's clash against Brest but it did not happen. Defensively this was our worst match since I came to the club. I hope that my players understand what they were doing wrong today and that they will make defence look better.
Domagoj Pavlović, PPD Zagreb's player:
We did not startt the match well but we were better in the second half and that was the key.
Zdenko Kordi, NEXE's coach:
Congrats to Zagreb on a win and speaking of us, I believe we were good. It was hard to keep up with their tempo through all 60 minutes, we were trying as much as we could. I see progress in our performance and that's what makes me feel optimistic before upcoming matches in SEHA and European competitions.
Marko Mrđenović, NEXE's player:
We've played well and showed that first round was only a coincidence. Zagreb is a better team but I believe that if we've managed to play a little better with less mistakes we could have caught at least a point here today.
NEXE will in the next round host Borac and Zagreb will, in Novi Sad play Vojvodina.
