Veszprem marches on
Hungarian champions have proved in a clash against Tatran that last week’s loss against Rhein Neckar Löwen was just a bad day for them. With Momir Ilić’ 8 goals they have managed to beat Slovak champions with 37:25. Veszprem now have 10 wins from 10 matches in regional League.
Hosts have managed to break Slovak team’s defence in the second half running away from them with 6:0 series led by Renato Sulić. Prešov were good in the first half but in the second they’ve simply lacked strength to keep up with such amazing opponent. Rabek and Kristopans have scored 6 each for Tatran and upper mentioned Momir Ilić was Hungarian team’s best scorer with 8 goals, Nagy who came back after the injury scored 6.
Antonio Carlos Ortega, MKB-MVM Veszprem’s coach:
We were better in defense than in Germany. They were tired in the second half, so we could increase the gap.
Laszlo Nagy, MVM-MKB Veszprem’s player:
It was a good feeling to come back after such a long injury period. It was important to us to be back in form after the defeat in Germany. In the second half we’ve really had good periods.
Peter David, Tatran’s coach:
Congratulations to Veszprém, they’ve played really well! We’ve had a lot of injured players, so we could not play at our best level for 60 minutes. We’ve tried to do our best but it was not enough against this good team.
Tomas Urban, Tatran’s player:
I’ve honestly enjoyed this game. We were good in the first half but in the second Veszprem have showed why they are one of the best teams in Europe.
