Tatran once again better than Zagreb in Prešov
PPD Zagreb have once again failed to beat multiple Slovak champions in Prešov. This time it was 24:23. Hosts have opened the match in a better way slowly enlarging the goal gap until +4 (12:8) after first 30 minutes. It seemed like Zagreb simply lack strenght to keep up with physically well prepared hosts after tough Champions League's match against PSG. However, in the second half, Zagreb started playing better, faster in offense, with tougher defence and it looked like they will catch Tatran and break bad losing tradition. But in the end Tatran have woken up a bit and managed to bring the game to a close for really important three new points.
Rabek was Tatran's best scorer with 7 goals, Antl scored 6. Zagreb's newest reinforcement Duško Čelica was on the other side along with Luka Raković Zagreb's best scorer of the match. They have scored 5 goals each.
Peter David, Tatran's coach:
We've known this was going to be a very tough game againsta team capable of beating Kiel and PSG. Our goal was , despite of the absence of many of our key players like Kopčo, Pekar, Krok or Sadovyi to try to dictate our tempo and I believe we've managed to do it. Our goalkeeper by that did a great job and that's it. This was a defensive match on both sides and that's the reason why I am especially satisfied because of a win.
Oliver Rabek, Tatran's player:
It was a tough match with a bit shorter roster. Some of us had to play 50 to 55 minutes. We are happy that we won. Also big thanks to our fans who came to support us.
Veselin Vujović, PPD Zagreb's coach:
Congratulation to Prešov. It was a nice match and a deserved win for Tatran. We also knew it would be a tough match. Tatran plays with physically bigger players who are really hard to stop.
Luka Šebetić, PPD Zagreb's player:
We've had our chances today but we did not take them. We were not able to take advantage of some good situations. Our task now is to recover as quick as possible and prepare for our next match against Meshkov in order to win.
