Meshkov wins third-place derby against Tatran
Meshkov are, after the win against Tatran, only a step away from League's third place after the regular part of the season. From remaining two matches (away against Vojvodina and Metalurg), Belarus champions need only one win to secure position 3. Derby was decided at the beginning of the second half with Meshkov making 5:0 series at 14:11 and enlarging the goal gap to 8. In the end 30:24. Ljubo Vukić scored 6, Jankov Božović 5 for hosts and on the other side Hrstka netted 8, Svetislav Verkić had 15 saves.
Meshkov will on Wednesday play in Novi Sad against Vojvodina and Tatran will in a week travel to Kragujevac to meet Radnički.
Petar David, Tatran’s coach:
I’d like to congratulate to our rivals, completely deserved victory. We’ve had good periods but unfortunately we’ve had too many bad ones. We are playing without two of our most important players Urban and Rabek so obviously it is difficult but we have to move on.
Vyacheslav Sadovyi, Tatran’s player:
Our goal was to reach a positive result but in order to do that we’ve known we have to be fully concentrated through all 60 minutes. Our right side was weakened, we’re missing some of our important players and today it was visible. However Brest has a good team and I wish them luck in final round of SEHA GSS League.
Željko Babić, Meshkov’s coach:
For me as trainer, it is always difficult to play against Prešov. Excellent trainer and team. Today it was a bit easier for us to play with our guests missing some important players but that’s sport. I believe we have today played outstanding in defence and I’m happy for 3 new points.
Dmitry Kamyshik, Meshkov’s player:
We’ve played well in defence today as well as in transition. It was not ideal but we’ve managed to reach 3 new points and that is what makes us happy.
