Time for the second big derby of the season
Время второго большого дерби сезона
In a match between two such good and motivated rivals there is nothing less to expect but a big fight and good performance. Meshkov versus PPD Zagreb (Sunday, 18.00) will be the second realy derby of SEHA Gazprom League's fifth season.
Last season, in their clashes, both teams have managed to celebrate but not on their court! They have in the end both managed to reach a place onm League's final tournament with Meshkov finishing second and Zagreb third.
In this season Meshkov have already played away against biggest favorites Veszprem and were beaten. On the other side, Zagreb have managed to celebrate in Croatian derby but much harder than expected. Home-team's coach will probably not be able to count on Pavel Atman and Dzianis Rutenka for this match.
Sergey Bebeshko, Meshkov’s coach:
- It will be an interesting and difficult game. We've watched last game between NEXE and Zagreb making detailed analysis. They are a team of great potential. Comparing with last season they've become much quicker and better in defence. That match impressed us I have to say. Speaking of us, Pavel Atman will most likely miss the match. Dzianis Rutenka's appearance is also still under the 'question mark' as he felt bad during the last practice.
Vyacheslav Shumak, Meshkov’s player:
- Matches against such team as Zagreb are always very hard. We will try to show good handball in front of our supporters. It is important to win.
Veselin Vujović, PPD Zagreb’s coach:
- Meshkov are a strong opponent which has participated on League's final tournaments in last two season and this summer they have managed to upgrade their roster with few great reinforcements. Their ambitions are always high and I'm sure they will look for a victory against us. This will, on the other side, be a difficult journey for us but despite of that I believe we have quality and maximum motivation required for a big performance tomorrow which would bring us a step closer to our goal - League's F4.
Lovro Šprem, PPD Zagreb’s player:
- This could be the most difficult game in SEHA Gazprom League. Meshkov have quality on the same level as Vardar and Veszprem, best teams of this competition. We respect quality of our rival, we know they have reinforced during the summer bringing Tiomentsev, Atman and Kristopans who are all great players. They are favorites but they were favorites last season too and we've managed to beat them. Everything is possible, we're going to do our best and hope for a positive result.
