Veszprem after Super Globe easily over Vojvodina
A Veszprém a Super Globe után könnyedén túljutott a Vojvodinán
Exhaustion from Super Globe tournament in Qatar and its finals only two days behind us was clearly no problem for Veszprem in a match against Vojvodina in SEHA Gazprom League which they have clearly managed to win with 44:21 (22:12). Reigning champions have in each part of the game outplayed Serbian champions proving that loss against Füchse did not affect their form.
Ilić, Zeitz, Nagy and others had no problem finding a way to Vojvodina’s goal today. They were today also supported by a fantastic performance of Mirko Alilović who finished the match with 22 saves which means there was simply no chance for Vojvodina to reach any result which would satisfy them today. Guests were 10 goals down after the first half and it would not be wrong to say that the match has already then been decided.
Christian Ugalde was best scorer in Veszprem’s roster today with 8 goals, as much as Miloš Orbović scored for Vojvodina in fully crowded Veszprem Arena.
Antonio Carlos Ortega, Veszprem’s coach:
We were today running the court like we should have in Qatar and we were playing defense like we should in each match. This was the best way for us to bounce back after loss in finals in Doha. I would once again like to highlight our defense and counter attacks. Our fans were amazing today, we are grateful and I’d also like to wish Vojvodina all the best in the future.
Mirsad Terzić, Veszprém’s left back:
This victory will surely have a good effect on us after loss against Füchse on Super Globe. Defense was a key today and I believe we can even improve it until CL’s start.
Nikola Marković, Vojvodina’s coach:
Congratulations to Veszprém on this victory and excellent game. They have better players on all positions. I thought they would be tired after the tournament in Doha, but even after it they were running much more than us. We are in crisis, because in the past we’ve lost some games that we should have won. I hope we will be able to improve and get out from this bad form. It was a fantastic feeling playing in front of both Veszprém’s fans and them as opponents, too.
Filip Marjanović, Vojvodina’s left wing:
We’ve made too many mistakes in this very difficult match. Congratulations to Veszprém, I wish them all the best in the future.
