PPD Zagreb dominant in 'Matchbox' sports hall, Strumica on -29
PPD Zagreb uvjerljivo slavio u 'Kutiji šibica' – Strumica na -29
PPD Zagreb have only two days after a big clash in Champions League against Kiel in 'Arena' Zagreb managed to celebrate against Macedonian representative in the competition Maks Strumica. In 'Matchbox' sports hall hosts were better with 42:13.
From the very beginning everything was clear. Zagreb have in front of a little more than 100 spectators had an easier practice catching 3 new points. Strumica was not able to follow and compete against Zagreb in any aspect of the match. Coach Veselin Vujović has decided to change his roster a bit comparing it to the match against Kiel on Thursday. Captain Horvat and Tonči Valčić were given a chance to rest and were replaced by youngster Marko Vukić who scored 4 goals and Antonio Kovačević who was along with Luka Šebetić zagreb's best scorer tonight with 6 goals. Kulenović scored 6 for guests.
After first 30 minutes it was 19:6, in the end even bigger, +29 (42:13). Zagreb will now have a week to rest and prepare for the clash against Celje in CL next Saturday and maks will on Wednesday at home seek points against Borac Banja Luka.
Marjan Andonov, Maks Strumica' coach:
Another bad day for us. Our team currently consists of only 12 players from which 5 are having certain injury issues and we did not simply have a chance for a better result today. Zagreb have played an amazing match especially in defence and it was a pleasure to see them play today.
Stefan Čizmović, Maks Strumica' player:
We came here to play a decent match aware of the fact which are our opponents in this competition and that we'll have to seek points against them. On Wednesday we will host Borac and hopefully reach new points. Congrats once again for Zagreb today.
Veselin Vujović, PPD Zagreb' coach:
I am sure our match in Strumica will be different than this one today. Maks have a great ambient at home and it won't be easy. Considering us, most important thing is that there was no injuries, that we've reached a new win and that we now have time to prepare for the match against Celje next weekend.
Luka Šebetić, PPD Zagreb' player:
We've managed to break their resistance quite fast today and decide the match. We've kept our focus, played a good match all the way until the end keeping winning mentality. I wish Strumica all the best in further competition and we are turning towards CL's clash against Celje next Saturday.
