PPD Zagreb – Vardar after Euro-weekend
PPD Zagreb – Vardar, nakon euro-vikenda
PPD Zagreb and Vardar will meet in a postponed 3rd round match of SEHA Gazprom Leagues on Monday right after appearances in Champions League during the weekend in round 5. Match is scheduled for 17:30 CET.
PPD Zagreb were on Saturday at home better than Polish Wisla Plock and Vardar were not able to beat Kolding in Denmark a day later. Hosts so far have 4 victories from 4 appearances in regional league and Vardar will on the other side enter the match as first positioned team at the moment with 5 wins from as much matches. Biggest dillemas are rosters for the match with both coach having certain troubles due to fatigue caused by tough CL's clashes.
Zagreb and Vardar have until this match met 11 times in the League. They have 5 victories each and one draw. In addition to that, Vardar have better goal differnce from these clashes between two of League's first title holders.
Veselin Vujović, PPD Zagreb' coach:
Vardar are currently one of Europe's best teams which they are proving with their results so far this season. It will be a big derby in our little sports hall. I hope everyone willing to see the match will find a seat on Monday.
Luka Stepančić, PPD Zagreb's player:
We did not lose a point so far this season and surely we'd like to continue with that. It won't be easy, many of our players are not physically 100% prepared with minor injuries on their back and with the match against Wisla less than 48 hours behind us. However, Vardar are surely in a tougher situation...
Raul Gonzales, Vardar's coach:
We're travelling to Zagreb on a derby only a day after a tough away match in Denmark. It will be very hard for us with Zagreb having a great team, outstanding coach and a will to rise from match to match and win each home match. However, we also have our goals and they will remain the same - we want to keep on winning.
Igor Karačić, Vardar's player:
Zagreb are a very good team, a tough opponent in such a situation after Champions League with a great coach but we'll have to find a way. This season our goal is not to underestimate anyone. We expect to win.
