Zagreb for redemption and first victory in Prešov
Zagreb for redemption and first victory in Prešov
In League's 8th round Tatran will host PPD Zagreb. This will be their fifth clash in Slovakia with hosts managing to secure at least a point each time they have so far met in Prešov. In first four seasons Zagreb have only once managed to catch a draw, in the second season.
Croatian champions are coming to Slovakia after an a bit surprising loss in CL against Besiktas in Istanbul and without two of their best players - Stepančić and Pavlović. They will also bring their so far perfect 5-5 score in the League along with a wish to make it 6-6. On the other side Tatran are expecting the match after a CL loss in Russia and tough victory against Borac but with 5 wins from 6 regional league matches so far this season making this a battle for No. 1.
Rastislav Trtik, Tatran´s coach:
PPD Zagreb are an excellent, strong team which has the right mixture of experienced and young talented players. They've delivered high quality performances in SEHA League and Champions League games recording very good results. I am convinced they have the quality to get into quarterfinals of the Champions League this year. PPD have really strong right side, doubled player´s positions, excellent defence and efficient attack. It will be great experience for us to play versus Zagreb in a game which could bring us a lot of good things. We cannot compare individually with them, so our performance has to be highly tactical. We will try to fight hard and surprise Croatian team. We would like to attract our fans to come to the stands and be our eight player in this important match.
Lukáš Urban, Tatran´s player:
It will be a very demanding game. We have to prepare properly in physical and mental way for this game. PPD Zagreb are in a good form in SEHA League and Champions League. We have to use home advantage and try to take some points in the match.
Veselin Vujović, PPD Zagreb' coach:
A few turbulent days are behind us and I hope it will prove to be a positive shock-therapy for my players and that they will really show what they can in Prešov. We must not allow ourselves to underestimate anyone and get back into the routine we've had before the unpleasant loss in Turkey. Tatran are a serious team against which we've never managed to celebrate on road and in case we play like we can I believe we'll keep the top spot - unbeaten.
Lovro Mihić, PPD Zagreb' player:
Tatran is an opponent against which we've never managed to celebrate in Prešov. Additional problem will be absence of some of our important players like Luka Stepančić, Tin Kontrec and Domagoj Pavlović but we're used to playing each important match wihtout at least on of our important players. Luckily we have a roster of 20 players and I hope we'll manage to reach the victory despite of the roster.
