Meshkov have a hard time in Ljubuski, Baranau saves the day with 11/11
After a year-long SEHA League break, Izvidjac hosted Meshkov Brest in the first match of their SEHA comeback season. Guests arrived to Ljubuski with a bit modified, weakened roster due to a recent Eurotournament appearance and Izvidjac knew how to use it forcing Meshkov to give their max in order to reach, in the end a narrow 33:29 victory.
In the first part defenses were absent from the court with teams scoring 17 goals each. Meshkov opened the match better with a 5:1 series but hosts were able to level the result until the half-time whistle. Maxim Baranau played a remarkable half scoring seven goals from as many attempts. The only question ahead of the second was which team will strengthen their defense first and sail towards the win.
Izvidjac started the second half better with Delic and Maretic bringing them first advantage of the game but Meshkov responded well keeping the result leveled all the way until final ten minutes of the game when their defenses started playing better, more aggressive allowing Yaschenka and Kuran to decide the match and help Belarussians start the season on a high note. Maxim Baranau dominated the encounter from the very first minute finishing the match with amazing 11 goals from just as many attempts!
