Metalurg stun Steaua in Bucharest
Macedonian vice-champions celebrated their third win of the season on Friday evening defeating Steaua Bucuresti in Bucharest 26:28 (12:11) on wings of a powerful final quarter of the match.
Romanian vice-champions were able to control the match until a bit less than 15 minutes before the final whistle when they were five goals ahead (21:16) but started committing turnovers which allowed guests to start reducing the gap.
Despite of the fact Steaua’s advantage was clearly rapidly melting, coach Mihaila kept on forcing powerplay actions hoping they would help his team score some more easy goals and seal the deal in this one. However, quite the opposite thing happened in the end as Silegov and Tankoski netted two in a row to put their team 25:26 ahead only three minutes before the buzzer.
Daniel Dupjachanec, one of Metalurg’s most recent signings, played his role between posts grabbing 13 saves with some of them coming in crucial moments of the game. Gabriel Florea on the other side netted seven for Steaua.
