Chance for Meshkov to open the home court with a victory
Belarusian champions have a good chance to prolong their streak against League’s rookies Dinamo Pancevo on Tuesday (17.15 CET) in their Victoria sports hall. Meshkov opened SEHA season poorly with only one win in three matches. However, in Champions League, they proved their worth beating former European champions Kielce. Victory should serve as confidence booster ahead of their SEHA home opener, especially knowing the fact that only a few teams ever managed to take points home from Brest. Meshkov are clearly rising in form and this should only be a tougher training ahead of upcoming CL challenges.
Dinamo opened SEHA season better, with an away win against Vojvodina after which they lost two matches - against Metalurg and Gorenje. Trip to Belarus will be long and hard giving even more chances to Bebeshko’ team.
Sergey Bebeshko, Meshkov coach:
Our rivals are SEHA - Gazprom League rookies. They won their first match against domestic champions Vojvodina and for many this was a great surprise. This is however a proof that young guys always play with an additional amount of passion. In Slovenia they lost by a big margin and that is on the other hand a proof of their inexperience. Despite of all that, we know we are facing a young and motivated team and that’s why we’re taking Tuesday’s match seriously. We’ll do everything we can to win. I guess we’ll open the match with the same line-up like in the match against Kielce. We’re starting to run a long distance marathon playing 3 matches a week.
Rade Mijatovic, Meshkov goalkeeper:
This is our first match against Dinamo. I believe we are a more skilled and experienced team than our opponents. However, this does not mean we can play a relaxed match. We need points and will do our best to win.
Ivan Petkovic, Dinamo coach:
We'll play a team with high ambitions not only in SEHA League but in CL as well. We're of course underdogs in this match but our goal is to play as much quality, competitive minutes as possible. We want to grow match in - match out. Branko Radanovic will miss the game and Veselin Jelic will on the other side travel with team.
Veselin Jelic, Dinamo player:
Meshkov is a serious team, among TOP 10 in Europe at the moment. For us it is important to fight for 60 minutes and hopefully reduce number of technical mistakes to an absolute minimum.
Match will be broadcasted on EHF TV, Arena Sport channels as well as Sport TV (Slovenia).
