Milos Grozdanic clinches half-season scoring title as Vojvodina edge Metalurg
Vojvodina have with Dusko Celica's last-minute goal on Thursday evening managed to secure three new points for themselves against Macedonian vice-champions Metalurg Skopje. Fans in Novi Sad enjoyed a great match in which neither team managed to open the gap and seal the deal early into the encounter but we had to wait for the very last minute to find out who will take points from this one.
After the first half Metalurg were up by two (15:17) but Vojvodina's second-half performance helped them grab their fourth win of the season which means they are, half way through the season now, levelled with Meshkov Brest (12 points) which not many expected. Dusko Celica played an extraordinary match scoring seven goals while Milos Grozdanic went 8/8 securing the half-season scoring title with a total of 55 goals – seven more than PPD Zagreb’s captain Zlatko Horvat. Bojan Perovic had 12 saves. Aleksander Spende on the other side netted seven for Metalurg while Croatian international Ante Tokic added six in what was Metalurg's first match without Velkovski who will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a tough injury a few weeks ago.
Next round is reserved for national SEHA derbies which means Vojvodina will host Zeleznicar and Metalurg will welcome Vardar.
