PPD Zagreb dominant in Bucharest
PPD Zagreb managed to stay on top of SEHA - Gazprom League’s table with was their ninth victory of the season defeating Steaua in Bucharest on Tuesday night 24:31 (8:13).
Romanian vice-champions were able to keep their hopes alive until 6:6 with a little less than 15 minutes left to play in the first when David Mandic and Josip Bozic Pavletic helped Zagreb sail away to 6:9 with a few easy, counter-attack goals. In the beginning of the second hosts managed to score four in a row to get to 12:16 but they were still too far away to endanger rivals whose defense functioned great in crucial moments of the encounter.
Josip Bozic Pavletic led Zagreb in this one scoring nine goals while Urh Kastelic added 11 saves. Sabin Constantina netted four for Steaua, all of which came from the seven-meter line, which was just enough for hosts whose chances to qualify for the final tournament in their rookie season have significantly dropped with this loss.
In the next round Zagreb will play Izvidjac in Ljubuski and Steaua will welcome Vardar.
