Injury-plagued Vojvodina in Presov

Vojvodina

In the first match of SEHA - Gazprom League round 11, Tatran will on Saturday (18.00 CET) in Presov welcome Vojvodina. Slavko Goluza and his players have managed to find the right rhythm recently having four wins in a row at the moment and it’s clear they’ll look to make it five in front of their fans and make another step towards their goal – final tournament placement. Vojvodina are on the other side dealing with some serious injury issues at the moment. Coach Boris Rojevic won’t be able to count on six of his first-team players in this one but it’s clear players who will be able to suit up on Saturday evening will look to rinse the bitter taste after a tough home draw against national rivals Zeleznicar with a quality performance against favoured, Champions League bound team like Tatran Presov. In their premier encounter of the season, Tatran celebrated a dominant 17:27 away win in Novi Sad.

Slavko Goluza, Tatran Presov coach:
We respect Vojvodina but at the same time, we’re focused on ourselves and our performance. We’re playing at home and we’ll try to rotate the team as much as possible in order for all players to reach proper form as soon as possible. We must not underestimate Vojvodina and try to use this encounter as a preparation one for duels against Vardar and Meshkov. I will most certainly demand maximum effort from my players who must not be relaxed in this one just because we’ve managed to celebrate in our first match of the season in Novi Sad.

Afanou Gatine, Tatran Presov player:
We have four wins in a row and of course the atmosphere is quite good at the moment. However, we must remain focused and try to play the way our coach tells us to because Vojvodina without doubt have a good team and they’ve proved it against Izvidjac and Metalurg.

Boris Rojevic, Vojvodina coach:
We’re off to Slovakia without six injured player with Dusko Celica also being the new name on that list. This has never happened to Vojvodina, this much injuries. In our last match we lost two points in a really weird way but every day you’ve got to find the right motivation to grow and become stronger. That’s why handball is such a challenging sport. Tatran are absolute favorites in this one. We’ll give some younger players a chance to prove themselves.

Jovica Nikolic, Vojvodina player:
We’re travelling to Slovakia with a lot of problems. I hope I will be able to suit up, we’ll be able to count on only 11 or 12 players for this match. It’s never easy to play against Tatran but we’ll fight for those who are injured and unable to play. We see this match as an opportunity to deliver another quality performance.
