Vardar edge Zeleznicar in Nis
Reigning SEHA champions have on Saturday evening in Nis managed to reach a way harder than expected victory over highly-motivated home team 22:24. In an extremely narrow finish, Zeleznicar's newest reinforcement – former Serbian national team player Ratko Nikolic netted one to bring his team to only minus one (22:23). They've even had a chance to level things up and maybe even in the end snag a point against highly-favored opponent but Igor Karacic managed to take advantage of one of their turnovers scoring his only goal of the night to finally seal the deal in this one and secure three new points for reigning champs.
Guests were able to control the match from the very first minute but never managed to widen the gap enough to avoid a stressing, narrow finish. Christian Dissinger led them with five in this one while Dainis Kristopans and Ivan Cupic added four each. Predrag Vejin and Aleksandar Pavlovic netted four each for Zeleznicar.
In the next round Veselin Vujovic and his players will look for road points in Brest against Meshkov and Skopje will on the other hand host derby of the round with 'Red&Black' welcoming Tatran Presov.
