Vojvodina secure regular season No.6
Serbian champions Vojvodina have with a 26:21 win over Nexe on Tuesday evening secured SEHA - Gazprom League regular season No.6. Boris Rojevic and his players managed to outsmart and outplay Croatian vice-champions powered by what was one of the best second-half performances for them this season.
Guests were three goals up after 22 minutes after Mario Tomic (finished the match with six goals) netted one to put his team 9:6 up. Hosts however managed to completely get back into this one until the end of the first led by their top scorer of the night Strahinja Stankovic. Experienced right winger netter nine goals in total.
SEHA League leading scorer Milos Grozdanic on the other hand led Vojvodina’s 5:0 series in the beginning of the second breaking a SEHA record for the most seven-meter goals scored in a season passing Rastko Stojkovic and his 46 back from 2016/2017. Seven minutes into the second hosts were already up by four (15:11). Svetislav Verkic was great between posts as he didn’t allow Nexe to crawl back into this one completely despite of the fact Ante Gadza managed to help his team cut the gap to only two (19:17). However, with three goals in a row, Vojvodina finally sealed the deal in this one.
This was Nexe’s fourth defeat of the season while Vojvodina on the other side crowned their best SEHA season so far with regular season sixth position which is a clear indicator of the fact team from Novi Sad is doing a great job and an important and motivating sign for them prior to Serbian Championship Play-Off.
