Asanin shines with 19 saves as PPD Zagreb celebrate in SEHA derby versus Tatran
In what was the premier SEHA Gazprom League appearance for both teams PPD Zagreb were at home better than Tatran Presov with 25:20. Matej Asanin delivered an exceptional performance finishing the match with 19 saves for Croatian champions.
Match was completely levelled in opening 15 minutes with neither team managing to open the gap. PPD Zagreb were playing much better than in the first part of the season delivering a solid outing on both sides of the court and running the court really well. Tempo they were trying to keep proved to be too quick for coach Slavko Goluza and his guys later in the first which helped 'Lions' open the gap to five before the half-time buzzer (17:12). Matej Hrstic and David Mandic were leading them in the first combining for nine goals while Matej Asanin grabbed 12 saves. Nino Grzentic on the other side finished the first half with three for guests.
In the second half hosts were able to keep the tempo high and remain solid on the defensive side of the court entering final ten minutes of the match with a six-goal advantage which was enough for them to secure the win at that point.
