Petkovic: "This win means a lot to us "
Vojvodina - Dinamo 24:29 (16:16)
(Stojanovic 5, Nadoveza 5, Ratkovic 5 / Zujovic 6, Banduka 5)
Bozo Rudic, Vojvodina coach:
We were playing unrecognizable handball, I just couldn’t recognize my team on the court today. I thought our form was rising after the tournament in Hungary but unfortunately I was wrong. We’ve committed 26 mistakes. I understand the fact that our new players need some time to start functioning as a team but this can’t be an excuse. I’m however sure we can’t deliver such a bad performance twice and that we’ll be much better in the next round which is on Tuesday against Nexe away from home.
Bozidar Nadoveza, Vojvodina player:
I do not know what to say. We looked so bad. Our defense was a complete disaster and in attack we were clueless. We did not pass our very first test. I feel like it should be a great responsibility to wear the jersey of Serbian champions and that we all need to look in the mirror and ask ourselves whether we’re ready to be a part of Vojvodina team or not. I’m so disappointed. We’ll see what we can do in the future.
Ivan Petkovic, Dinamo Pancevo coach:
First of all I have to remind everyone of all the injured players we were playing without today. That is exactly why I’d like to thank my players for the effort they’ve managed to put in despite of the pain. Vojvodina have top players like Vuckovic or Nadoveza but they also have a whole lot of young players and it is a situation which surely takes a lot of time to get better. I’m sure my colleague Bozo Rudic is capable of doing that. This win means a lot to us as we’re already preparing for our second duel against Metalurg. I have to be honest and admit that the clash against Benfica will serve as preparation for that match.
Dusan Petrovic, Dinamo Pancevo player:
Great victory. I found myself guilty for some goals they scored during the first half but fortunately our attack was effortless. This is the only possible way to beat Serbian champions. I’d like to thank my teammates for putting in whole lot of work on the defensive side of the court. I’m so happy right now.
